By Football Italias staffThe Italian international striker Gianlui Buffon has agreed to join Udinese, according to reports.
The 23-year-old is understood to have signed a three-year contract worth €15m (£12m) with Udinese.
The Udinese coach Roberto Di Matteo confirmed the signing on Twitter, adding: “The signing of Gianluini Buffon confirms our desire to be a strong and stable team.
We know that he is one of the best players in Serie A and that he will contribute to our football and we will work to ensure his future in Udinese.”
Buffon was a target for a number of Italian clubs during his time at Juventus, but Udinese were unable to tempt the Italian international into a new contract.
He had been linked with a move to Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur but Udina made a final attempt to sign the player before his move to Turin in 2014.
Udinese finished fifth in Serie B last season and were relegated to Serie A after losing all three games at the Stadio Olimpico.
